EMEE joins European music sector in welcoming the draft AgoraEU report

EMEE joins 26 organisations from across the European music sector in welcoming the draft report by MEP Emma Rafowicz and MEP Alice Kuhnke.

The creation of a dedicated music strand, with earmarked support, is important recognition of music’s cultural, social and economic value – and of the specific challenges the sector is facing now.

To support a competitive European music sector, this must be backed by targeted support for cross-border circulation, including international market development, B2B promotion, professional networks and reliable shared data. It is also a chance to build on the needs and actions already identified through Music Moves Europe, including the European Music Export Strategy, so artists and music companies can reach audiences beyond their own national markets.

Music has proven unmet demand, clear structural needs and a strong case for strategic EU support. Generic funding alone cannot address a sector built around circulation, collaboration and international visibility.
