EMEE joins European call for a stronger music policy within AgoraEU
EMEE is proud to be a part of 21 organisations from across Europe’s music sector co-signing a joint call for a comprehensive policy strategy and an ambitious budget for music within the future AgoraEU framework (2028–2034).
We welcome the European Commission’s proposal to strengthen cultural and creative sectors and the proposed €1.796 billion allocation to the Creative Europe – Culture strand. This represents an important step forward. However, we regret that the current proposal makes no explicit reference to music, nor does it build on the momentum of the Music Moves Europe initiative. Given music’s cultural, social, and economic importance, this is a missed opportunity.
Together with our partners, we call for a coherent music-specific approach, including:
- Dedicated programmes tailored to music;
- A European Music Observatory;
- Fair and ethical principles for digital and AI.
EMEE will continue to engage constructively to ensure music is fully recognised at EU level.
