Connecting Europe's music export organisations to strengthen the international reach of European music.

EMEE welcomes draft report on AgoraEU: a landmark step for the European music sector

The creation of a dedicated Culture – Music strand is a significant step forward for the European music sector, and a recognition that music needs tailored, structural support at EU level.

From an export perspective, we are encouraged by the strand’s focus on cross-border circulation and B2B promotional activities in major markets. These are the mechanisms that make European music visible and competitive globally. We will be watching closely to ensure that music export is explicitly covered in the strand’s eligible actions.

The proposed European Music Observatory is also a welcome development. Robust, shared data is foundational to making the case for European music on the world stage.

The proposed 15% allocation for music is an important starting point, but it should be treated as a minimum. To unlock the sector’s full cultural, economic and international potential, the final programme will need real ambition in both budget and implementation.

EMEE and its members across Europe look forward to engaging actively in the legislative process ahead.
